Hello!

I'm Carlisle Poe, I've been interested in technology for a long time, but about a year ago is when I started really getting into coding and open source.

I primarily make desktop applications and play around with Linux, but I've dabbled in other things as well, such as Lego robotics or making games.

I also like camping, traveling and theater, and I love animals.

Here you can see some coding projects I've made. For more info about them, click on the title of one to see the respective Github page! You can learn more about me and other things I do on the about me page.

Some of my projects:

My personal setup for Arch Linux, including my own themes and custom apps, such as a taskbar and parallax wallpaper engine.

This is a display I built for my brother that lets you see when your bus, train or streetcar is predicted to arrive. Works for all Trimet public transit, and the Portland Streetcar.

Learn how to use the Linux terminal (Bash) in this dystopian themed video game.

Lego robotics

When I was 12, I joined a team to participate in a First Lego League Challenge robotics competition. With a team of about 6 other kids, I helped with both physically building the robot and programming it. Our robot got 3rd place.

Another neat project I made was a functional printer made from Legos and rubber bands. To write, the printer moved a pen that was pressing down on a piece of paper.  I would type what I wanted in the keyboard on my computer, and the printer would write it out with the pen. I was about 10 years old when I made this, and followed instructions from another maker that I found online. It wasn’t my invention, but it did take a lot of work and troubleshooting to complete it.

Minecraft

I've been self-hosting a server for my friends and me for about a year.

I've also made a few datapacks and resource packs, such as one that allows you to ride Ghasts (before it became an official feature), but that was a while ago and I unfortunately couldn't find any photos :(

Another cool thing I have done in Minecraft was build an 8 bit calculator using redstone and logic gates. I built this together with a friend who knew more about logic gates, and who helped teach me.
