Heyo! I'm Carlisle Poe (they/them), I'm 16, and I'm from Washington state. I joined Hack Club about 6 months ago, and I'm really excited about the possibility of running some of Hack Club's future events. Although I'm only 16, I'm completely home schooled and my parents support me applying for the job, which means I could move all the way to Vermont even though I'm not taking a regular gap year before college.
The rest of this page talks about me and my interests, and some none-coding things that I do/have done.
I've been in 3 musicals, Mulan, Elf, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the last of which was unfortunately cancelled due to covid. I've also taken a few acting classes, and regularly perform during campfires at scout campouts. I was the production assistant for a musical version of “Heidi” at Goldendale Community Theater in 2022, and my jobs included helping setup and tear down the set, and making sure people were where they needed to be, and that they had what they needed. Last summer I participated in a week-long workshop where I co-wrote and performed in a short play with 8 other teenagers.
Theater has helped me build my self confidence and communication skills. The photo to the right is me at age 12 wearing my Goldendale Community Theater t-shirt and a hat with a wig from the musical “Heidi”. I am sitting on the stage.
I love animals, and have been responsible for taking care of many, including bunnies, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats and mice and more. I walk our dogs twice a day, clean litter boxes, and feed and water all the animals every day. Playing with them is definitely my favorite activity.
On the right, you can see me caring for my first rabbit, Laffy Taffy Cottontail. They had cancer, and needed regular medication for the last few weeks of their life. The only way to give it to them was to burrito-wrap them so they would not escape. đź’–
I've been scouting since I was 5 years old. My scouting organization is called the Outdoor Service Guides . It is an all inclusive scouting group which focuses on traditional scouting skills. I've done lots of hiking, camping, and fire-building. I have also learned a lot of wilderness skills such as carving, knot-tying, building shelters and first aid.
I have served as Assistant Patrol Leader for my scout group for a year, and as Patrol Leader at our annual Hullabaloo campout. I learned a lot about rounding up wild teenagers for a program, and about the challenges of planning large events, from directing parking to ensuring everyone has enough time to participate in an activity.

I like traveling! For my 12th year birthday, I planned (and went on) a trip (with help from my mom) from Oregon to the Grand Canyon! My mom drove and paid for part of the trip. I paid for the rest, and I was in charge of choosing the schedule, route and destinations, and navigating (when I wasn't asleep in the car.)

I do about half the cooking at home, and I enjoy finding unordinary plant-based recipes.

I do alot of reading, mostly fiction, but also ethics and philosophy.
I have a large collection of books (more than just what's in the photo), but my favorites are the Sun And the Star, Animal Liberation Now, and Daughter of The Deep.
